Mike Jones

Time Trial and Cyclo-cross Rider

Objectives

To improve his time trial performance.

Background

Mike came to me wanting to improve his performance in club time trials. For many cyclists, this is where they gain their first taste of competition. Mikes training time is limited, as he works full time and has a family. His job is also quite physical, as he is a motor mechanic. Despite this we were able to take Mike from competing in club 10’s through to leading the club team home in open events over 50 and 100 miles, as well as a competing in a 12 hour time trial.

But his growth as a bike rider hasn’t stopped there. We’ve utilised different types of competition to develop and progress a number of aspects of performance. Introducing Mike to rollers has been a key training tool and has unlocked the confidence to work toward the technical skills required for competing in cyclo-cross and road races.

It was only a matter of time before we got Mike trying new and exciting disciplines. Cycling has so much to offer – BIKELIFE can help you into that discipline or event you didn’t think was achievable!
