Background
Alex has an abundance of technical skill, having raced moto-cross and downhill to a high standard as a junior. Now a senior rider, Alex approached me to help him be fit enough for, what was at the time back in 2010, the emerging discipline of mountain bike enduro. Securing a podium finish for himself at the end of that season would secure him a sponsorship deal and a Factory Team place. Clearly this incentive had motivated Alex to push himself as hard as he could – which is why, when we began working together I found Alex in an over-reached state. My first task was to help him get some freshness back then help him gain what form we could in the time we had available.
Alex sealed the deal and for the next couple of seasons continued to gain regular podium finishes alongside some of the greats of mountain biking, including Nico Vouilloz and Nino Schurter. The key to Alex’s training was teaching him to train specifically, as well as being adaptable with training solutions due to the amount of time he was travelling and time spent away from home for competition.
Alex says...
"I approached Charlie for training as I was looking for an athlete with experience in both high level competition and coaching with a view to raising my level of fitness. As a result I became a lot fitter and learnt how to structure my time on the bike including training, having fun and racing".
'I'd recommend Charlie Evans as a coach to anyone looking to improve their fitness, results and general approach to racing".
